Bathtime is one of our house’s favorite times of the day. My son has always loved splashing around in the tub and playing. When he got close to turning two, he became a bit more apprehensive about taking baths. I did my best to find fun bath toys and activities to get him excited about getting in the tub again, but now, we have trouble getting him out of the bath because he is having so much fun!

My husband typically bathes him each night so that it can be their special time together. He allows him to play when he first gets in, and they wash up at the end of the time. They both enjoy having fun together, and I’ve found some great toys for water play in the tub over the years. I’m sharing 20 favorites for you to browse and purchase for your child. 20 Best Bath Toys for Babies and Kids - Baby Chick

This is a favorite toy of my son’s from when he was a baby. It displays and alternates six colored lights and sprays water from the top of the whale. It is completely automatic once the bottom touches the water. This would be great for turning out the lights in your bathroom and having a glow bath.

These suction cup spinner toys are great for all ages. They come in four packs of three spinners: a farm, panda, poppables, and silicone toys. The suction cup sticks to all smooth surfaces so it can be attached elsewhere throughout your home, making it a multipurpose toy.

This fun purple octopus is especially great for younger babies. It floats easily on the water’s surface and is soft and flexible for bath time play. It includes three rings with the toy making it perfect for practicing hand-eye coordination. Each ring is shaped differently, like a star, fish, and striped circle.

This is a reel fun bath toy for littles! It includes one magnetic fishing rod and three underwater bobbing characters that float with their magnets on the top. Your little one turns the reel, which makes a fun clicking sound when turning, and can easily “catch” the characters! We love how this bath toy set helps your child develop their hand-eye coordination and is sealed airtight, so it limits mold and mildew growth and is super easy to clean.

This is our absolute favorite bath toy because you can use it in many ways. I love that it reinforces letters, numbers, and colors while keeping it fun. These pieces easily stick to walls when wet and are made of soft, durable foam for easy cleaning.

Time to get creative in the bath! These bath crayons wash off easily and are handmade with natural beeswax. They come with seven crayons: red, green, yellow, orange, blue, pink, and brown. I think these would even be a hit with older kids to practice spelling words in a fun way.

Water-friendly books were our BFF in our first year. They are great for the pool and bath and dry quickly. This one comes in a ring with bright and stunning colors throughout, and each page reinforces a color with a fun illustration.

This Dingray Xylophone is made for the bathtub and looks so fun! It includes a mallet for playing, and the keys are rust-resistant metal. It floats on water and has five colorful keys to keep the baby’s interest.

When you want to be a fun mom and let your kids paint without making a big mess, you do it in the tub. This fun bath set includes washable and dissolvable paints, crayons, and stickers. You can create so many beautiful masterpieces with this kit! The Baby Shark theme will surely be a hit with all kids, and to clean up, you just wipe it away.

Little ones have the best time with Glo Pals during bath time! Glo Pals has different characters with different personalities, and they come with six reusable cubes that light up when in the water. The cubes have a battery life of 16 hours and are guaranteed to last for at least 30 days. We’ve had ours for six months, and they are still working! This toy literally brightens up bath time. It’s a great option because while your child is playing and having fun, they are also learning cause and effect, color recognition, and sharpening their cognitive and fine motor skills with this bath toy.

This is perfect if you’re looking for STEM-related toys. These Boon Pipes are interactive and have five pieces in different colors that you can arrange in many ways. Water can flow through them if you want and they can also be used separately during bath time play.

These blocks are great for infants or toddlers. They include 18 blocks designed for small hands that float and can be used to scoop water or build things. It also includes building elements to make a small waterfall maze. The set even comes with a mesh bag to store them in and hang them when not in use.

This is a great set for older kids who want a bigger challenge. It includes 20 assembly tracks for countless ways to build a slide and has a wind-up duck, eight suction cups, and six mini ducks. Let the ducks race down the slide and see how fast they can go! Your kid can use the slide set on other surfaces like refrigerators and glass windows or doors for even more fun.

This is a great STEM toy activity for younger kids. It includes bumps that encourage tactile interaction, grasping, and transferring from one hand to the other. The spinning parts promote a higher level of discovery and visual exploration. There are various hole configurations to drain water in different patterns, which adds more discovery. The ball separates into two halves, allowing for fill-and-spill fun, easy clean-up, and mold-free storage.

Ignite your baby’s interest in science with this fun bath toy! This company is all about creating STEM-based toys to help introduce our young “scientists” to the fundamental concepts of physics and mathematics, and this water activity center is a great way to do it! It attaches to the side of the tub and generates fun water effects. This set comes with a test tube container with volume marks and a detachable funnel for filling, pouring, and playing. This is for ages 1-3, and they have another similar set for ages 2-6 that comes with a submarine water pump.

Another one of our first bath toys, this little train of boats, is a fun set that kids can use in many ways. The bright colors draw children’s eyes and keep their attention. It has six boats that can be connected and can scoop and strain when turned upside down. There’s also this cute set from Boon if you want a more modern-looking bath toy.

My son would love this ultimate bath toy boat set. It comes with four mini cars, six boats, and a large boat that can store them all. The ferry boat includes a ramp for fun play, like loading the cars onto it. The mini boats have a hole in the bottom so you can squirt water out of them. These toys would also be excellent outdoors for the pool or beach.

This has been a favorite toy of ours in the bath for years. It can pour water out of it through a hole in the front like a tiny pitcher. It does double duty for us to rinse his hair during bath time. It is a very sturdy and easy-to-clean toy that will be a staple in your tub.

Pouring water is always a favorite for children, and these buckets are perfect for little hands. These fun buckets are colorful, each with a different animal. The bottom of each has varying perforations that change how the water comes from them. These are very sturdy buckets that we have also used at the pool. If you’re looking for more neutral stacking cups for bath time, this is a great option too!

This basketball hoop and set of mini balls have been a hit with my son. It easily suctions to bathtub surfaces but can be removed as needed to store or clean. This is a great way to practice hand-eye coordination. We like to make a game out of taking turns shooting a basket!

I also encourage you to find a good way to store these fun bath toys. This is especially important if you share a bathroom with your child or between multiple household members. Good storage allows toys to dry properly between bath times to prevent mold and decay. I hope you find some great toys to enhance your child’s bath time. Enjoy making some sweet memories each evening together!
